Invisalign and clear aligners have become popular over the last decade as an alternative to conventional braces. Using a series of removable trays, gradual alignment of teeth can be accomplished.
Space closure, minor crowding issues, and shallow to mild open bites can be successfully treated with clear aligners. Since the trays are removed for eating, you can enjoy your normal diet and treats as before. Normal intervals between visits are six to eight weeks. Fixed or permanent retainers can be used after alignment.
You may be a candidate for clear aligners. A free consultation is just a phone call away!
Clear braces or ceramic braces are an excellent alternative to metal braces or Invisalign if the patient prefers a more "incognito" look. The older clear braces were made of plastic and had a tendency to discolor from foods and drinks. Today's clear material is almost translucent and maintains clarity throughout treatment. From a distance, your braces are practically a secret.
Clear braces have advantages over Invisalign or other clear aligners. They give Dr. Murphy the ability of precise movement for bite control and correction, and also allow for proper root movement to avoid treatment relapse.
Modern braces today are smaller and have a lower profile than ever before. Gone are the days of full bands around most or all of the teeth and large hooks for elastics. Even smaller brackets are used on younger children to accommodate the smaller mouth and tighter lips. Nickel-free braces are also available for those sensitive to this metal. Lower friction braces help teeth to move more freely and align faster. Braces have come a long way over the past ten years.
